Ric Rac Blanket

I fell in love with this material from Riley Blake and waited for it to come on sale. There is a cute quilt shop just up the road from me who does buy three sometimes two yard get one free. I went to go buy it and they were all sold out. So I went searching for this material I ended up going to three stores and finally found it. I made these cute blankets in about 2 hours. Very cute but more expensive than I thought it would be.

Halloween 2009

It is becoming a tradition to go to Jason's parents Halloween party. We didn't decide to dress up until an hour before. We went out looking for costumes and had to hurry. We went to Kmart then to Amilia's costumes, and finally shopko and then back to Kmart. I have decided that modest Halloween costumes do not exist. I guess next year I will have to make my own I did find a devil costume to wear though. We bought Jason and mullet wig so he could be all business in the front party in the back. We had wonderful appetizer and played fun games. Thanks Karen and Gary for the invite it was a blast!

Shop Hop

I dragged Karen and Katie to the Holiday shop hop this year. Katie was lucky enough to spend all day Friday with me going to Utah county and Salt lake county stores. It was fun to see all the Rag quilts, Patch work quilts, Scrap quilts. How popular Yo-Yo's are what you make with them. Also what you can do with Ribbon and Ric Rac. Some of my favorite shops were Gracie's Lou, The Quilting Cottage, and Material girls.

Thanks for going with me Katie sorry you didn't win anything.

Birthday

For my birthday Jason surprised me with new ear phones for running, and running clothes. He also remembered to get me the secret garden movie. To celebrate my birthday we went to Rodizio Grill then we attempted to hike up Bell Canyon. After we went to dinner with friends to a great Mexican restaurant. My mom bought me a cold stone cake, I recommend the mint oreo. It was soooo good. Thanks Mom!

Aunt Mar is the "my favorite aunt on my mom side" family joke. She always makes me feel special on my birthday she took me clothes shopping and well she basically bought me a running wardrobe which is what I was hoping for. Thanks Aunt Mar!

I joked around with my mom about wanting to get canning products to be able to can. Eventually I hope to be more domesticated in the home. Thought this was a good start. Aunt Key gave me an awesome book and some cute little bottles. I can't wait to go bottle with her now.

Jason's parents know how much I have started to loving sewing so they bought me a cute new sewing box. I have yet to pack up and start using it. Thanks for letting me always borrow all your sewing supplies. I promise one day I will give you back all the bobbins I have borrowed.

I work with an individual who knows where Richfield is loves to joke about it. I think he lived in Marysville for a while so that makes us neighbors. For my birthday he brought me in this crazy cake.

Gardens

We were able to go Thanksgiving point gardens. I never knew you could grow black flowers, or two toned flowers. I love the waterfalls, even though they are man made. I think that is why during the summer I always looked for hikes including waterfalls.

Were we went into the Secret Garden room and it brought back my memories of reading the book and watching the movie countless times. I had to ask for it for my birthday. I'm a nerd what can I say.

This week in Richfield

Before

After

We had a couple of days in Richfield this week. We were there for a funeral and to spend time with Shell's brother who was here from Michigan. We spent all Thursday from about 10 in the morning to 9 at night working on Shell's parents front yard. When we didn't finish on Thursday we had to work another half a day on Friday. Here are the before and after picture of how the project turned out. It was a lot of work, especially because it was just Shell and me doing all the work.

Boating

On Friday we decided all the hard work was done and we needed to go boating. We got to the lake the boat ran for a few minutes and died. My brother was the only one in the boat so Jason swam out to help him get the boat back to shore. After getting premium gas and starter fluid it would start and stop. They finally flipped a switch and we were off. We were both able to knee board Jason wake boarded. I love being on the lake especially when no one else is on the lake. We were even able to teach Kimmie how to knee board she did awesome. I can't wait for next summer so we can get out on the lake and play some more.

Ghost Falls

Ghost Falls Hike located behind the Draper Temple was a pretty easy hike more like a walk. We walked into the corner canyon for about an hour and to see ghost falls. As we were finishing the hike we were able to get some great views of the Draper Temple.

Parade of Homes

It has been a tradition of ours to go to the parade of homes. However, due to the economy the parade of homes was a major let down. We only went to one night and decided not to go to any others. Most of the homes were model homes and were not decorated. In the past I've looked forward to the cute decorative ideas in each house.

As Promised

Here is the Final Project for Jason's Architect Class. He used paint rollers for insulation, sandpaper for shingles, and paper for hard wood floor. This is just half the house which is all he had to do so where the wood sticks out is where the garage would connect. I was very impressed with all the detail he used. Not sure what his final grade was but at least he got an A- of the Class that started with 35 students and by the end was 8 or 9.

Real Salt Lake

Jason bought tickets to a soccer game as an end of semester celebration. It was really fun to watch the soccer game and enjoy the weather. We are hoping to go to the Bees Baseball game again this year so if anyone is interested in going let us know.

Architect School

This is a park Jason designed for his class. The next one is the Library. Jason applied to get into the University of Utah Architect program at the end of March. However, they won't tell you if you been accepted into the program until June. He is currently making a model home (scale is 1/2 inch) once its done I'll post it too. Thanks to Laurie Jason was able to get awesome pictures to put in his portfolio. This is basically whats going on in Jason's world.
As for me I have been working. Recently I teamed up with my mother-in law and am helping her teach 4-H. We are teaching cake decorating who knew even if you didn't have experience it would turn out great. Thats about all we have been up to.

Prom

This is my "little sister" she is barely taller than me. I was able to attend her prom last weekend. We watched the promenade dance which I think was the same from when I attended prom. Then enjoyed watching them escorted by their dates and a slide show. I was amazed at how grown up she looked.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Now we've done it. I finally created a facebook account. Not only did I go and create one for myself, I created one for Shell. I had to have at least one friend on there. She has since taken control of her account so feel free to be her friend to.

January Recap

The month started off with a Leadership Training "Rapport" outside of Vegas. The training was a great reminder on how important it is to live your life to the fullest. If you get a chance look up the story "The Dash." If you ever get the opportunity to go to this training don't pass it up.

Then on to St. George for the weekend I met up with Jason and my cousin Ash. We played old school nintendo. We played Mario Brothers, Kirby and Rampart. Jason thought Ash and I were crazy how much we loved these old school games.

Jason and I have also started taking a class: Financial Peace University. Jason is also taking two classes at SLCC which will be the last classes he can take at SLCC. Currently he is looking into applying to the U in the Fall.

Four Wheeling

This Christmas we were able to spend a full day out four wheeling. Looking for Elk, we did not see any but we did see many deer.

Never to old to make snow angels!
